Night at the Museum[]

Nick first appears as the tritagonist in Night at the Museum as the son of Larry Daley. Nick "forgets" to tell Larry about his schools career day and takes Don instead. Larry arrives to pick Nick up and take him to hockey game in Central Park. After the game Nick and Larry walk through the park talking about moving house again, Nick than brings up that Larry should become just a regular guy and get himself a job. Nick goes on to tell Larry that he doesn't want to be a hockey player any more and wants to become a bond trader.

On his way to work, Erica's fiancé, Don walks Nick to school, they pass the Museum of Natural History just as his dad announces to Dr. McPhee that he doesn't think the job is for him and hands in his uniform. Nick tells Larry that he is happy that he got a job at the museum and this makes Larry reconsider.

A few days later, Nick arrives at the museum with his group of friends only to watch his dad be fired because of the mess in the Neanderthal display. He gets upset about this and goes home and is later visited by Larry who explains himself. Larry tells Nick that he will take him to the museum and show him what happens when the sun goes down.

At the museum, Nick sits up on the desk and watches as Larry counts down until sundown. When nothing happens and the exhibits don't come to life Nick gets disappointed. Larry tells him that the Tablet of Ahkmenrah is what causes the exhibits to come alive, Nick naturally doesn't believe him. Larry tries to prove that there is a tablet by taking Nick up to the Ahkmenrah exhibit and discovers that the tablet has been stolen. Nick goes to leave but then notices shadows coming from the loading dock. The two make their way down to the loading dock and find the tablet with the middle piece turned, Nick picks the tablet up and goes to turn the piece but is stopped by Cecil Fredericks, Gus and Reginald when they tell Nick that his dad doesn't work at the museum any more.

Nick runs through the museum with the tablet managing to maneuver his way back up to the Ahkmenrah exhibit where he and Larry are later locked in. The two release Ahkmenrah from his coffin and break down the gate of which was locked. When running through Central Park, Nick gets on the back of Rexy accompanied by Ahkmenrah. When they catch Cecil and get the tablet back. He helps his dad get the exhibits back to the museum. When Teddy Roosevelt says that Larry is a great man, Nick replies he knows showing that he is proud of his dad. Later, on his next career day at school, he has his dad be career day parent and parties with the exhibits at the museum at night.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian[]

In the second film, Nick is seen in the beginning, talking to his dad about the situation that had happened with the museum. Nick says that he had gotten rid of the coolest job ever, causing his dad to say that working at the museum didn't pay for his 'guitar hero 6'. After Jed gives them a phone call though, Larry leaves his child at home while he travels to Washington, D.C. At the Federal Archives, Nick tells his dad about all the museums and how they are connected before getting disconnected with his dad. Though, later on in the National Gallery of Art, when Larry and Amelia Earhart go into the V-J Day in Times Squares, Nick is able to talk to his dad before the phone is dropped.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb[]

In the third movie, Nicky is now a teen, first seen throwing a party at his and his dad's house as the DJ. When his dad gets home, he gets in trouble for throwing the party, having to clean it up but he and Larry do have a talk about his future. Later on in Britain, Nick helps his dad sneak into the National British Museum, sticking along with the adventure to help get the Tablet of Ahkmenrah the help it needs. This is where they meet Sir Lancelot, getting saved by him before the knight sticks with them. As the movie goes on, he helps Lancelot with fighting the Xiangliu, leading them to seem more close.

Later on after they learn how to save the tablet, Lancelot uses Nick as a way to get the tablet, leading them to have to give it from the knight. Though they are almost too late, they save them in time. Then, Nick has to tell his dad about how they have enough time to return the museum exhibits back, leading them to do so as Nick talks to his dad.

Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again[]

Larry Daley has to replace a guard who left and he offers the job to his son, Nick. Larry tells his son that while is working in Japan, Nick can take over for him at home. Nick is worried he won't do a good job but he agrees. On his first day, he sees Rexy, Attila, Jedediah, Octavius, Laaa, Dexter the monkey, and Joan of Arc. He has to lock the storage room in the basement gets scared and just uses a statue to block the door instead. This allows Kahmunrah to break free. He steals the tablet that brings the exhibitions to life because he has a master plan to rule the world.

Nick and the others run after Kahmunrah. Rexy stays to guard the museum. Joan has a vision that shows her that Kahmunrah is going to the Museum of Natural Art.

Nick and the group chase Kahmunrah through the art museum. Kahmunrah brings to life the God of Chaos, Seth, who helps him fend the others off. They find the painting that leads to ancient Egypt and go through it. With only a couple of hours until sunrise, Nick and his friends enter the painting as well.

Nick beats himself up for letting Kahmunrah escape but the others attempt to cheer him up. They arrive at Dendur. At the temple, a fight breaks out. Nick plays the notes in reverse which makes the tablet suck away the jackals, Seth and Kahmunrah.

Nick and the others get away but the sun starts to rise. They make it home just in time. Feeling more confident, Nick asks out the girl he likes. He also agrees to be the new night guard at the museum.
