Daley Devices was Larry Daley's company to sell the inventions he created.
History[]
Prior to becoming a night guard at the Museum of Natural History, Larry created various inventions he believed would be popular in the hopes of getting rich. He was briefly the CEO of Snaptime Industries, the umbrella corporation for The Snapper, a sound-activated electrical switch that would turn lights on and off when one snapped their fingers; unfortunately, The Clapper already existed, and Larry had not originally known that a significant portion of the population struggles to snap their fingers.[1]
After becoming the Museum of Natural History's night guard and saving the Tablet of Ahkmenrah from its attempted theft by Cecil Fredericks, Gus, and Reginald, Larry eventually successfully incorporated The Snapper into his flashlight.[1]
Some time later, Larry felt the need to quit his job at the Museum and start Daley Devices so as to make more money, as the Museum didn't pay enough to support the life he wanted for himself and his son Nick. He ran the company for two years and sold devices that were directly inspired by his time at the Museum and the methods he used to deal with the living exhibits. They money from his company's success allowed him to move out of his original apartment into a much more expensive and upscale one.[2]
After hearing about the Museum's planned replacement of most of its exhibits with holograms and shipping the originals to the Smithsonian federal archives, Larry briefly returned to the Museum's aid to save both the exhibits and the Tablet. After doing so, he sold Daley Devices and anonymously donated the resulting money to the Museum to keep the exhibits in New York City.[2]
Later on, as a result of selling Daley Devices, Larry moved out of his expensive apartment and into a smaller and simpler one.[3]
